    Tuesday, April 26 - Theresa ~ John 1:10-14

note: apparently the title links are not operational...it's because this blog set-up is imported and not complete. So now, each devotional will include a link like this:

    John 1:10-14

Jesus comes into the world! WooHoo! How exciting. A bit confusing at first. Talking about Jesus being in the world but the world not recognizing it and not welcoming Him, even though he created the world. I think that has as much meaning now as it did when he was actually here. Jesus is all over the earth- but people just don't see it, don't recognize it.

It goes on to talk about how the people who did accept him were called Children of God. How awesome is that? That always makes me feel valued... So in Vancouver- so far we'll be walking around in a "dark" land where they don't recognize Jesus, and we'll be the light filled children of God!

The next verse is so significant- "the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us." Flesh for describing God was a strong word. That single word stresses the reality of Christ's humanity. This verse might also connect us to Vancouver. Will people tell others that we come and "made a dwelling" with the local "outcasts"...will we be remembered for our just being there and doing some things for them?

    I hope so.

i like the very first verse big number 10 when it is saying the world is God and made through him its great to see that he was everywhere all the time and was made from him i still cant believe someone thought this all up and theres going to be something tons times better in heaven. but i get lost in the world didnt recognize him or recieve him how can that happen if he made it all? but i think it means like the ppl now dont take him in like they should i like this one

Hey, i finally figured out how to comment!
Anyways its kinda scary....going to this "dark" land, aka vancouver, but exciting because we are light! It will be hard being in a place so different from the enviroment we're use to where some people don't know jesus at all! and they're just like 400 miles away! But don't you love the though of being the light in the darkness? andd leaving with maybe even just a few more people accepting it?

God, Jesus, was human...I can't seem to comprehend that. He was living and breathing just like me. One thing i've heard a couple of times from nonchristians is that God doesn't understand...If God doesn't understand what you are going through, who in the heck will?

IT's odd when you think about God who could have anything he wanted by justing saying the word, came down, humbling him self to die and save us. Not to mention that he could have called angels to help him at anytime.

Of course we are sort of doing the same thing. Humbling ourselves enough to talk with the outcasts of Vancouver.

Alright it kinda makes me sad that he brought the world to us and we have yet to even notice. He came to his own people yet we didnt want him... I guess I just don't understand, why he was here and people didnt want to acknowledge him or let him know that he was wanted here. But those who did believe in him got to know who their true self was. He was true from start to finish, i like when it says this because it is so right that he is true and will always be

The verse that really stuck out to me was 12. I thought it was really cool that people who simply accepted him got to be a child of God. That made me think about if we spread the word, we can make other people God's childern as well.

Oh man! All that passage does, is make me more excited for Vancouver. THe fact that we can plant a seed in someone's heart is incredible. Sure there will be some people that will decline it. But we have to think about all the people that could turn their lives over to God because of the work that we will be doing. Awesome!

that sounds kinda scary, going into the darkness and showing the light to the people who have never seen the light or ever heard about it.showing others the light is going to be cool.but i know that god is going to show the way, and we are going to help others to follow the path and join use in the walk with god

I am still just blown away that Jesus came to our world and we didn't even want Him... Honestly... What were they thinking?

"He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him." this makes me think of the pharisees. did they just assume that he was some crazy guy coming to do who knows what? or did they think that there might have been something special about him. it makes me wonder what would happen if Jesus decided to show up today. if we would kind of guess that there was something special about him. or just denie it.
