There'll be no weekend edition today, since we seem to behind a day anyways...so this'll correct it.
Don't forget, we do have a meeting tommorrow (May 1)after lunch, because May 8 is Mothers' Day and I know you want to have lunch with yous mums. So here's today's installemnt from Aaron! John 2:1-11water to wine-what a crazy conceptFor one, I think that its great that Jesus does these great miracles to below average people. If you were Jesus' mom, could you go up to him and say, "Hey Jesus were out of wine what do youu think about helpin us out here?" I think that its good that she knows that he can help but I dont know if I would ask for more wine from him, thats for sure, maybe the cure for cancer would have been good...but anyways. And then Jesus talks back to his mom, "Why you get me into these things?" - crazy. Then he makes the servants fill the buckets up with water and turns them into wine, and just not any old wine but the best. You always use to drink the best first then when everyone was tipsy you get out the cheep stuff, but no, Jesus makes it the best. If you could make wine wouldnt you make the best also? Even though its not a major thing, he didn't heal anyone sick or fly somewere or something huge like that, he kept it low key and then the bridegroom thanked him for what Jesus had done. I think its great!
How Jesus didnt go braggin and say, "Hey you! See me change that water to wine!" that would have been bad on his part, so good him. It says that it's the first miraculous sign so you know there is only more to come and that the fallowers put there faith in him. I think this is a great passage.

I wouldn't put it as talking back, he just nicely said "Dear woman .... My time has not yet come." Besides wouldn't he be disobeying the whole Obey your parents thing.
You know it makes you wonder if he performed miracles when he was a boy. It sure would be interesting to see what his childhood was like. Sort of like the question: Did he know everything even when he was a baby?

Not to start an argument - but just where is the whole "OBEY" thing? The commandments use the word honor - which is a way deeper question here? Did Jesus honor his moms? Of course the answer has to be yes, otherwise Jesus sinned and salvation is a joke. So, if Jesus did honor his moms, what does that mean about honor??

I think many of us are getting a little off topic here. Anywayz my view is just the fact that he can do such a thing as turn water into wine. It may seem simple...water-wine...but it's HUGE!! I mean, could you do it? Miracles happen and even the littlest ones are wonderful. Mandy

This is very cool discussion -you guys are really noticing things and interacting with the Scriptures - THEYAREALVIE!! - totally cool.
I love Logan's questions about faith - just when did the disciples become "Christians" ( followers of Christ)????

i was totally like....hello obey your mother. so pretty much jesus is telling us to obey our parents indirectly. haha. just gave me the upper hand with the folks. i love the bible.
ok but seriously, water into wine. i would wet my pants. i think that seeing this miricle made it easier to follow jesus. hello think of how many more believers there would be if jesus were walkin around performing miracles.
good passage.~Lacy

Okay I dont think that i understand fully, because at the beginning it seemed like he said no... dont push me. I dont know, but i think that he made a miricle for this guys wedding whether it be turn the water into wine or healing someone. He touched the lives of others. I think that to honor means: To listen and obey and take others into consideration. But hey maybe thats just me:)

so I didn't really get what this had to do with Vancouver...? Other than the whole bragging part Arron talked about- like we're not going around bragging that we're helping the homeless, the prositutes, the parent-less....we're just doing it. Connection? Not sure- but that's what i go out of it.

So I was thinking about the whole "honor your parents" thing and I was reading some of the stuff many of us got at Acquire the Fire - here's some ideas they had that I thought were good -
>>Ask them how their day was...and then actually listen
>>Thank them for something they do everyday, something you've never said before
>>Ask them about their childhood
>>Ask them to tell you a story about their parents
>>Plan a Friday night to just hang out with them...
It's really like I see "obey" as a response and "honor" as being pro-active, taking the initiative...I think that is the difference that I feel.

I don't see what honoring your parents has to do with Jesus turning water into wine, but I am still amazed that Jesus is able to do these miracles. They seem so impossible. I was a little confused as to why the disciples began to believe in him at that moment. The disciples didn't know it was Jesus, only the servants knew.

I find it pretty amazing that Jesus can be told to change water into wine and he just does it as if he has been doing this since he was a baby. But I can't stop thinking about the last verse. About how the disciples started believing in him. Were they not followers before that? Or did they say the were, but didn't really believe?

I still am on the fact that Jesus turned water to wine....I know that if I turned water into wine... it would just be pretty amazing. And here this is only the first step to something even greater that Jesus did... For Him the simple act of turning water to wine was pretty incredible and to think that He could do more... that makes me ponder...

i agree with loggin, with the hole thing about putting all thier faith in jesus after he made the wine.shouldnt they have all faith in him before the miracle? i think it was wronge for marry to ask him to do it even though he said no first.

i agree with you luke. i think it was wrong for mary to ask Jesus to do a miracle. it kind of gives me the impression that although she knew he was the son of god, he was also her son, so she wanted to show him off kind of thing.
