    Monday, May 2- Kacee ~ John 2:12-25

    John 2:12-25

So Jesus is using a whip and trying to get the sheep and cattle out of his father's temple. He pretty much said "Quit using my fathers house as a shopping mall", and that is when his disciples remember the Scripture, "Zeal for you house consumes me." That is when the Jews get upset and say how are you going to prove who you are? Jesus answers,"Tear down this Temple and in three days I'll put it back together."

Jesus is trying to get the Jews to understand that he is who he says that he is... And he is trying to get them to trust that he can build their Temple back up in three days when it took them forty-six years to build. I think that it is telling us that we have to trust that he will build us up for this trip and he is going to be building our love in the Lord while helping others. We just need to trust that he is going to be there at all times for us :)

well i think its crazy that ppl would be using the temple in such a way its pretty much saying they like the location of the building but not whats going inside of it becasue its a good place to sell their items pretty wierd but i like how Jesus says he will build it up in 3 days but they just think that it cant happen but its Jesus, but i think that it would have been hard back in the day to think is this really him the one how could you i think that everyone who trusted in him had a lot of faith but in the passage it says that when Jesus dies and is raised from the dead that they remember the passage and then the disciples believe that the Scripture and what Jesus has said is true.

no doubt! Who would use those beautiful temples as a shopping mall? Not me. Nice work, Kacee. I didn't really see what this had to do with us! And with the whole "build it up in 3 days" thing- wasn't he talking about himself? Because we don't need a holy place (like the lace behind the curtain in the temple) anymore because Jesus died for us...and rose three days later...

I don't think it would have been too hard to believe him. I mean look at the Antichrist, you'd think people would be skeptics but phrophecies say that he'll have a huge following. People want something to believe.

I totally agree with the trust God he'll build us up, it makes sense.

True, but he will set himself up as god.

It makes complete sense that Jesus would flip out because they WERE using his Dad's temple as a "shopping mall". I'd freak out if I were say, the pastor of the church, and people were using my church to do tatoos and piercings, you know? Jesus was in the right..

I totally agree about the mall thing. I can't believe that people would turn a church into a martket place, or mall. That is ridiculious in my mind, but back in the day I guess they didn't know right from wrong. I agree with Theresa, I don't think this verse has anything to do with Vacncouver, if anything the opposite. We are going and telling people about our faith. God is not going to kick us out of Vancouver becuase we are doing his will. That would be insane.

I totally agree with Mandy. Jesus was definitely in the right. I'd freak out to if I were him, I know that much.

Jesus gets angry with all the people that turned the temple into a marketplace. I think this passage was not just about respect for the temple;I think it's about faith. Jesus said that he would tear down the temple and then he'd build it up again in three days. But someone didn't have very much faith in him because they argued that it took them forty-six years to build it. I think that faith needs to be the focus of this passage.

Mandy you are right on the money... It is really crazy to think of a church to be used as a place of tatooing or peircing. I really like how there is a two meaning to the part of 'tear the temple down, and I will build it back up in 3 days'.

the fact that the pharisees don't believe in jesus would explain why they had no clue what he was talking about when he said the thing about the temple being rebuilt in three days.(which was his body.)

and i don't know why this sticks out to me but when jesus said that he was prophesing (however you spell that.)
