    May 4 - Chelsea ~ John 3:16-21

    John 3:16-21

I think just about everybody knows or at least has heard, at some point or another, John 3:16 . But I think the verses following are almost more important. I love how they talk about how Jesus didn't come send us all to Hell because we're bad, but to save us so we get to go to Heaven. I wish that when I was a kid I would've memorized all of verses 16-21.

well i like that its talkin about light going intto darkness again becasue thats what we will be doing going to the dark. And how it talks about haveing Jesus come to earth to not condem it but save it really. I think that some times ppl do that tell ppl there going to hell not tellin them about the truth. and how u must have the light to be able to go to heaven and ppl in dark dont like the light very signifigant

I love this passage too! the whole thing is rather awesome. I think this relates to us because God is going to be shining through us in Vancouver (and here) and we can't be the ones pointing fingers saying how bad everyone is- because that's not what Jesus did.

I agree with everybody else I absolutely love the light going into the darkness thing.

For God so loved the world...recited by kids in Sunday School everywhere. But even though it has been repeated so many times there is still the deeper meaning. And little kids can't seem to comprehend that Jesus truly died for us. They are lucky enough to grow up and know. A lot of people don't get that chance.

I think verse 20 applies to almost all christians. Many of us are afraid to talk to our friends abour christ, and verse 20 says that we stay away from the light for the fear our sins will be exposed and they will be punished. We fear what our friends will think of us, but the bible tells us that if we don't spread the word, we will be punished. Not only are we suffering, but the ones that we don't reach have to suffer too because they don't have christ. Instead we let them live in the darkness.

Okay when I was reading these verses, I switched the word light with life and the word dark with death. After doing that the verse made a little bit more sense to me. Listen to verse 20 with these words instead: "They hate the life because they want to sin in the death. They stay away from the life for fear their sins will be exposed and they will be punished." You see. People who live in the dark are living among the dead. They do not want to die to their bodies as Jesus has told us to. They are afraid of the new life they would receive.

I know that every living Christian has heard this verse, but for the people in Vancouver, it is totally new concept for them... "What? The Bible? What is that?" So I think that this verse plays a pretty crucial piece in our role there...

what i love about this passage is v. 19. "and this is the verdict" that right there reminds me that jesus is the ultimate jugde for everything.he's the one we have to answer to. after all he did give himself up to die for us.
