    June 7 - Mandy - John 11:17-36

    John 11:17-36

This passage is talking about Jesus coming down and finding that Lazarus has died. It strikes me that Martha is more apt to believe in Jesus’ healing than Mary. Jesus says that all who believe in Him will never die but will live forever with Him. That is so amazing because it is completely true. I sometimes wonder, why is it that we have an earthly life at all if we are all just going to die and go to heaven being Christians as we are?

wow i think that verse 35 is really deep Jesus must have really valued lazarasus as being a frind to him because he wept for him crazy. but i also like the verse talkin about if you believe in him u will have life. saying that we will never really die because when we do die physically we go on to something much better and think that this was nothing and that that will just be what living really should be

I think it was a bit of both when he wept. OF course he loved Lazarus so he might have cried about it but I think the fact that they didn't believe he had power to bring him back from the dead pushed him too far.

I'm always amazed why Jesus would put up with all of that for us... I mean, we aren't exactly the most greatfull. It just shows over and over how much he cares about us. And I think that he was crying for a bit of both... heck, I'd be crying!

how awesome that Jesus cried. People who say jesus cannot relate to them are wrong! He can- and this verse shows that. Shows his tenderness and love that he has for people. I don't quite get though why Mary waited at home, when she did the same thing Martha did- ran to him and told him what martha did...so why stay behind? Mary is someone I can relate to though. I like her a lot.

I really like verse 35 because it shows how much likeness we have to Jesus. It says right there in the Bible "Then Jesus wept." I think that is amazingly significant. At some point every human being cries (girls seem to cry a lot more). My Grandpa died a little while ago and I cried too. This verse really shows me that we truly were made to be like Him.

When Jesus says Those who believe in me, even though they die like everyone else, will live again. I think this means we will live another life in heaven, and we are going to Vancouver so that they will believe in him and never perish, and also to give people this eternal life in Heave, that we have.

    Tim,
I like how it shows that even Jesus was human and had our emotions and wept for his friend who he had lost.

This story really sums it all up for Christians. Tim brings up an AMAZING point. Its neat the think that Jesus was a teacher, leader, etc., but then He still could be the guy standing next to me crying for the person that he just lost. Like the rest of us do...

my favorite part of this story is when mary or martha broke down and cryed and jesus had compasion and was deeply moved and troubled in spirit. it tells me that jesus crys when we cry. when things hurt us it hurts god to
