John 4:4-14 At this point.....
It is noon, and with the sun directly over head this would be one of the hottest parts of the day. Jesus goes over and asks for water, and at first glance it seems casual enough, until you read the reply and find that Jews and Samaritans did not get along. So Jesus just went to talk with the part of society that he should have hated being around(if he were a "normal" person). Sound familiar, eh??? Sort of like what we're going to be doing.
Then I also like Jesus' reply
"If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water."
So if she had known, she would have asked and gotten the gift of living water.
How many people in Vancouver like her, don't know?

Wow, Joyce... I never really thought of it like that. I like how when the woman asks Jesus if he is greater than their father Jacob, he could've chosen to say "yeah, I am. So get me some water already." But he doesn't. He explains to her how to recieve the living water he was talking about.

well i think this is one of my favortist stories in the bible. Jesus is a Jew who dosnt talk to samaritans (society says) and that is just like what we are going to do and what i love doing. Going out and talking to the ppl society hates and rejects daly becasue of a life style they may not even pick also i love it becasue He talks about how he is the only real water and i love water thats for sure. And in the end he ends up saving like the whole town becasue he talks to this person he shouldnt be talkin to in the first place man thats a good storie

That totally excites me! People coming to me because they know I know the Lord...and they want to know him too! Not only in Vancouver, but here, at home! I like this passage...because it's one of many that shows how kind and patient Jesus is/was...like Chels said, he didn't demand for water, he asked and he explained to her the Living Water. How awesome. Showing how when we're kind people are more likly to come to us...

I REMEMBER THIS!!! JESUS IS NOT A FAT COACH! It is so totally cool that Jesus would talk to a Samaritan woman even though they did not, or were not, supposed to get along. Especially since then she is the vessel that helps her whole town get saved.

I really like these versuses becuase it applies to us completely. Jesus went up to a woman who was way opposite than him. We are going to people that are different than us. The woman denied Jesus's request, right away and Jesus asked again for water. We are going to be turned down by people in Vancouver, but all we can do is keep trying and keep missioning to them. Jesus gave us eternal life and we need to spread this living water.

Okay so I love this passage alot! Think about it. A Samaritan woman and Jesus, a Jew, are sitting together at a well talking about the living water that Jesus can offer her. First off, Jews and Samaritans did not get along at all. They believed in different things and they just did not talk to each other. Well, Jesus wanted a drink from the well but he had no bucket or rope. The woman did not want to get him water because he was a Jew. Then Jesus tells her about the living water that he has to offer. But she declines the offer. This passage kind of reminds me of what could happen in Vancouver. We are different from the Canadians over there and we are going there to offer them the living water, the same living water that Jesus offered that woman. THere is a big chance that a few people could decline our offer as well.

I love to relate the verses to my life today. I know how stereotypes can often keep somebody from talking to somebody else. I like to think of Jesus as the "unpopular kid" trying to talk to the "popular girl". Jesus is stepping out of his box to eventually save an entire town... AMAZING.

my favorite part about this passage is when jesus asks her to go get her husband...hello what a wake up call to that lady. after that it all comes out...the truth.
now that the truth is out, she can go live in the light. and because she's gonna start living in the light, a bunch of other samaritans are going to start living in the light..or in other words...truth. its kind of like our church saying "Lives touched by god are lives that touch others."
