    May 16 - Heidi ~ John 6:61-69

    John 6:61-69

I can understand how it would be hard to follow a man claiming to be the son of God, especially way back then. But i can also understand how frustrated Jesus must be with them still not believing in him, after all he has done. But if Jesus knew who didn't believe in him and if he KNEW who was going to BETRAY him why didn't he turn them away as well? (it's kinda hard to word what i mean) .
I think its amzing how the 12 KNOW he is right and KNOW that he will bring them eternal life. That's how this relates to us, We know that Jesus is the Holy One Of God, and we're not turning away from him, but we're following him and we're going to help others in that as well.

As I was reading through, I stoped at verse 63, when it says that human effort accomplishes nothing. I think that you have to have the holy spirit to live your everyday life. Nothing you do is accomplished if you don't have the lord in your heart. If you have the spirit, you have life. I think it is amazing that Jesus knew everything about us, even before we were born, such as who would betray him and who would follow him. It made me think about my own personal life, how I have put off spreading my faith to friends. He knew that I was going to do this, but still continues to work in my life. I think that is amazing that he hasn't given up yet. I think that if I were in his position, I would get mad that my followers were not doing there job to tell people about the word.

It is weird to think now that the disciples(not the twelve) didn't belive that Jesus was the Son oF God. I am glad that the twelve stood up and followed Him anyway even though all the others turned away. It's also weird to think that Jesus knew who would betray him, etc. Of course Jesus had to make those certain decisions, and had to keep those disciples, but how would you feel if someone close to you would ultimately lead to your murder?

Totally agree with you, it is amazing how we do so bad and fall so hard and yet God is still working on us.

hey well i think that the passage is kinda crazy that all these ppl are puttin on this face and then when Jesus confronts them about it they back away and just leave. I thought it was good because i think like now times a lot of ppl say there chrstian but arent and make christians seem like something there not. But i like how simon peter was like where else are we going to go there is nothing else out there pretty tight.

I liked verse 65 because Jesus said people can't come to me unless the Father brings them to me. Jesus is the only way into the kingdom of God. We believe in the Son, the Father, and the Holy Spirit. Each part of that plays a huge part in our lives as Christians. The Holy Spirit lives inside of us and gives us faith. God is the one we believe in and trust in. Jesus is the one that lets us into heaven. We must believe in him before we may enter the kingdom.

I didn't really relate at all to the verse...I read it and reread it and read all your responses... But I guess the bible doesn't relate to everyone. I agree with Kayla tho- what she was saying about how we accomplish NOTHING without God- I know people who are reminded everyday that they CANNOT SURVIVE without Jesus- sometimes I wish I was in that kind of situation- to consciously know every minute of every day that I couldn't live without Jesus. I wonder if the disciples ever thought about that- or anyone who came in contact with Jesus.

I believe that Mandy brings up a very good point. Jesus knew the one who would betray him and yet he still loved him. Today we just find out of somebody who talks bad about us behind our back and we stop talking to them. Jesus knew that Judas would be the one who would lead to His death and yet he just went on his day as normal.

I think what is more profound to me is verse 70- yeah, I know it wasn't part of the ones we were supposed to read- because Jesus says "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?" I just wonder what kind of a seed of mistrust that might have planted in all of the disciples. How could they possibly trust each other after hearing their teacher tell them that one among them was a devil?

i agree with you about what peter said. i mean it just amazes me how straight foward and how confident he must have sounded when he said that. i guess it kind of matches his nickname that jesus gave him..the rock. i also like the phrase "the spirit gives life, but the flesh counts or nothing." even though the flesh counts for nothing god BECAME FLESH just so he could die for a bunch of lousy sinners.....and what i also find amazing is that jesus did it all at once; for everyone. he didn't just die for the people in that age. he died for the people in the past, the present, and the future. now that's love. amazing, incredible love.
