    May 18 - Logan - John 7:14-20

    John 7:14-20

This verse was kindof confusing to me at first but after reading it a few times i finnaly got what it meant. I though that this verse was a very good verse and Jesus talks about that if we take credit for what someone told us to do then that is bad but if we say that we did it because that is what he sent us to do. I beleive that my faviorte part of this verse is when jesus says why are u trying to kill me and they all freak out and call him a demon possed man i though that was funny...

i think the verse is saying that we shouldnt go out talkin and trying to make oursleves look good and like take credit for what we say but like just talk so that more ppl know about God. thats the real reason were here and even just going on the mission trip im excited for it a lot now.

It irritates the heck out of me when people take credit for things that they had NOTHING to do with! The pharisees kinda did that too, huh? Like saying they were Holy, but then Jesus called them a brood of snakes- pretending to be things they weren't...anyway- I wonder if Jesus gets irritated with us when we take credit for something that he did...or don't give him credit for say, creating the universe...

I think what Jesus meant in these verses was that you shouldn't do things for yourself. i.e make a "master plan" for your life, etc. You should let God work through you and not the other way around. Also I think it's saying not to do things to honor yourself, but do things that are honoring God.

I'm with Mandy on this one too.

(Why is it I always get to the website by the time someone else has already posted the ideas I had. Oh well guess that proves the whole great minds think alike saying.)

Going along with all the "acting" comments, I hate it when people call themselves a christian, but don't act like it at all. My best friend calls herself a christian, but does nothing to show it, or grow in it spiritually. I think people like to take advantage of Jesus' death for our sins, and that is why we are going to Vancouver, to show people how to grow spiritually rather than just acting spiritual, or not acting for that matter at all. I hope that all made sense.

I totally agree with just about everybody on this one... that it is just soo annoying when people take credit for things that they had nothing to do with. And I agree with Heidi when she says that we are going to let the people know of Jesus and God. I don't believe that we are going so much for personal reasons but to spread the Word and help people. Does that make sense? I mean we aren't going to just see Canada, but to simply help people and spread the Word of God.

I think that when Jesus asked the people "Why are you trying to kill me?" that kind of threw them off gaurd. They thought they were talking about him being smart and not being taught and stuff, so when he asked them I think they were a little shocked. But then they came back and called him demon-possesed.*sighs*...idiots. But I also agree with all of you about people taking credit for things they really didn't do. And, people seem to blame God for the things that were their fault.

Okay that's kind of funny when Jesus starts to talk and all the Jewish leaders are like, "whoa, where did he learn that?" Okay I think he was really stressing the whole don't take credit for someone else's work. It's wrong. Jesus is trying to show us that what he is teaching us is a message from God and that we really should listen to it.

Brianna, that's cool how you picked up what i think is a double meaning to what he was saying. it was kindof like a parable only not. but just the way the author put it was funny when he said "then the crowd answered"

another thing that i thought was interesting was when jesus said "if anyone CHOOSES" it really prooves that just because god chose us first doesn't mean we will always chose him. and i think people sometimes think their choosing god the rigt way but their really not. like what you guys were talking about being frustrated with christians who are christians part-time. i think this phrase applies to this to.people only sometimes want to choose god in a certain part of their life...maybe because the part their not choosing to follow god in they think is way to hard.
