    May 20 - James - John 7:45-53

    John 7:45-53

Followers of Jesus seem to create a lot of anger. In this passage the Temple rulers GO OFF!! and demand that Jesus be stopped. I can almost see them talking, feeling so threatened by this new guy - someone who is turning their religious world on its head. They not only lash out at Jesus, they lash out at anyone who sides with him.... LEt's talk about this:

When was the last time you were lashed out at for standing with Jesus? How did it make you feel?

    And

Why do you think that Jesus makes people so angry?

i think its really funny how the pharasise get so mad at him but they really dont listen to him all they hear is that hes doing things aginst them and they dont like it so lets just kill him man that would be some hard times for ppl if u dont like someone just kill them

and the last time was about a week ago at work a fellow worker was talkin about somehow adam and eve and stuff and we got into a big talk but i kept my cool i felt good becase i somewhat knew what to say but then a little while later another worker of the store said they were very proud that i could stand up for what i believe and they could never do that i think its the best compliment i have ever got

i think Jesus gets ppl made because either they dont want to believe or they know they should adn dont want to or possibly becasue its a good argument

Hmmm...The last time I was lashed out at for standing with Jesus was in Biology class. We, right now, are learning about the theory of evolution. And I STRESS the word theory. So many people were talking about it as if it were fact. I spoke my piece about the Creation story, and many people wanted to shoot down my opinion faster than you could say Jesus.

I think what makes people so angry about Jesus is that they cannot fully understand Him. I mean, as you all know, you cannot prove the Creation Story as 100% true fact. You can't do that for anything, but you have to put your faith in to what you believe or what kind of faith would it be?

YES! go Nicodemous! Can you imagine how hard it was to stand up to these men for Jesus- some man he barely knew...but was interested in already. He could've lost his job, his life- So many people think Nicodemous was an idiot because he asked Jesus those questions about "rebith in Christ" but how many of us would've asked the same things? I like Nicodemous! Yea!

This probably sounds really bad, but I don't share my faith very well, which means I have no idea when I was lashed about what I believe. Because I don't bring the topic up, I don't have to worry about being lashed. I think that Jesus makes people so angry because they don't want to believe, and they think they have no proof of his existance.

I think people got mad at Jesus a lot because he was right, and they knew it. I mean, they totally would have acted differently if they really did think he was crazy.
No, they knew he was right and they were resentful. I remember during one of the rehersals for the school play I was in, a bunch of us were talking about different religions and stuff...somebody told me christians were all going to hell. When I get mad, I don't tend to act on it...I went off to read my book like a good little girl and was so furious I started crying...

Last time I was lashed out at was probably several weeks ago when I invited people to some event. But the most significant one was after see you at the pole, where I was specifically called crazy. I wasn't really hurt, it just made me want them to see the truth eve more.

I think Jesus makes people angry because part of them don't understand him and part of them don't want to give up control.

I don't think that I have ever been 'lashed' out at for standing with Jesus.Because most of my freinds are Christians and they go to church. But I was in the biology class with Mandy talking about Creation and the theory of Evolution. And I stand with her, that I sit there and listen to what is being said but I don't really hear it.
I think that people got mad at Jesus was telling them something new. He was telling them to change thier lifestyles and lets face it...people don't like change.

The last time I was lashed out at for being a Christian was in my Spanish class a couple months ago. This guy and I were talking about evolution and what we believe. (The guy is science nerd.) Let's just say we didn't really see eye to eye. I kind of felt like I couldn't really defend myself even though I could quote some great verses, he could always come up with a reason for it being "wriong." I think Jesus made people angry because he was a threat to them. He wasn't your average joe.

    Cassie

last year when we did the 30hr famine i called one of my mom's friend who was a devout atheist and kindly asked her if she would like to donate some mula$ to help feed the humgry kids in ethiopia. then she said,"you know what Cassie? i respect your beliefs and all but i just can't let myself do that." after that it felt kind of wierd talking to her.

i think one thing about god that really gets people going is you can't see him. people in this culture or any culture for that matter don't really like things they can't see, feel, or touch.
